Des Moines is situated in the center of the country's Corn State, Iowa. While it isn't one of the larger cities in the country it boasts a strong community of good natured residents each coming from a different background and each with their own story to tell. It is much more than a farming city with its clubs, concert venues, good schools and thriving businesses.
Center City is a game based on the daily lives and activities of the people living in Des Moines. Summer boasts markets, fairs, parties, and countless parks to spend a lazy day in. Winter shows the importance of the downtown ice rink, the Civic Center's plays and musicals and much, much more. There is a niche for anyone, of any age, to fit into and each and every person is guaranteed to find something they'll love in this city that is so often overlooked by the rest of the country.
The communities are safe enough to walk in at night, and things here move a little bit slower, we hope you'll find that you like it as much as we do.
Major Locations
East High School: This is the school most teens in Des Moines attend, it has the largest student population in Central Iowa, and the largest alumni association in the world. Classes range from the basics to things like Science Fiction Literature. Students at East tend to take pride in their school, and homecoming is practically a holiday. It's like being in a sort of family.
Java Joes: One of the major local coffee shops Downtown is also one of the biggest local hangouts for kids and adults alike.
Val Air Ballroom and The House of Bricks: The two most popular concert venues in Des Moines may not host a plethora of shows, but their line up is likely to have something for everyone. The House of Bricks is home for a lot of local bands, and shows for those under 18 occur at least once a week.
The Fair Grounds: This wide expanse of land hosts the State Fair for one week out of every year, and it's considered one of the best in the country. At all other times the gates are open and you can wander through the pathways, play in the fountain, or just relax on a bench (or stone statue) somewhere. There are childrens play areas and plenty of room for biking, skateboarding, roller blading, and anything else you can think of.
These are by no means the only places to be, they're only suggestions! Feel free to come up with your own!
